Hello! My name is Catherine Uy and I am a journalism student at San Francisco State University. My interest in journalism started ever since I learned to speak and write. I was always a curious person with a strong desire to share stories. ‘How’ and ‘why’ are my favorite questions to ask. I will be using this blog for my Online Journalism class. I will be posting assignments, sharing news and critiquing different uses of multimedia.
I love the power of storytelling. I want my stories to help give a voice to the voiceless. My goal is to create vivid and effective stories using a variety of multimedia tools. I plan on using my iPhone 4s, digital audio recorder and camcorder. I want to get better at shooting videos and editing them with Adobe Premiere. I would like to hone my smartphone photography skills. I also want to create more engagement through social media tools like Twitter. Lastly, I want to learn more about using Storify in my reporting.
I am interested in covering stories on tech, food, arts and culture and women’s rights. I need help narrowing down ideas for my final project. Right now, I am leaning towards covering women working in the tech industry.
